Press Release January 11, 2019
For Immediate Release LOCAL ARTIST’s YEAR-LONG “ONE A WEEK ART CHALLENGE” LEADS TO FIRST SOLO ART SHOW
Throughout 2018, self-taught, mixed media collage artist, Kim Dettmer took on the challenge of creating at least one unique piece of artwork each week.
A few years ago, Kim realized that, for her, there was a direct correlation between being creative and being happy. But life and motherhood would get in the way, as it often does, of making time to be creative and she noticed that at those times, she more easily lost patience, got snippy, and generally was crabbier. So, at the beginning of 2018, she decided to make a commitment to her happiness and made creating a priority - thus began the “One a Week Art Challenge”. You won’t believe how much this challenge has positively impacted her life! At her “One a Week Art Challenge” Art Show, Kim will share her story about how creativity, art and this 52-week challenge has taught her some powerful life lessons that you can learn from too. The Art Show will be held on February 8, 2019 from 6-9pm at 600 N. Rocky River Drive in Berea, Ohio. At 6pm there will be an art reveal and pre-sales, followed by an artist talk at 6:30pm. The remainder of the evening includes a celebration with light appetizers, beer, and wine and gallery access. All 52+ Originals will be available for sale, as well as prints, cards, and other products. Also, Kim has created a special piece of art that will be auctioned, with all the proceeds benefiting The Education Foundation for the Berea City School District. Kim’s mission for her artwork is to bring a little bit of happy into the world one piece at time. She is known for her whimsy, colorful and playful style that is filled with uplifting and inspiring messages. Her artwork has been described as “joyful”, “soulful” and “smile-making”. Kim Dettmer lives and creates her artwork in Berea, Ohio. She is excited to share her creations and year-long journey with you.
