In the Weeds - Week 26

WoooooHoooies!
This week is the HALFWAY point of 2018, thus I am halfway done with my One a Week Art Challenge! It has been such a fun journey this far and I am looking forward to see what is to come.

This week's piece is entitled In the Weeds.
(that feels a bit ironic - 1/2 thru this project makes me, pretty much, in the weeds - ha!)

Do you know that feeling??? I do...

In the Weeds

Overwhelmed.
Caught up in the details.
Struggling.
Unsure of what to do.
Entangled in the complexities.
Paralyzed.

And, the head will want you to take flight –
To run, and give up.
It will insist on putting an end to the pursuit.

The head will question
Competencies,
Worthiness, and
Will envision inevitable failure.
And the head, will blame you.

It will feel like truth.
It is not.
It is lies.
It is fear.

So, when you are in the weeds,
Reach out for help,
Pause,
Be curious,
Take care of yourself, and
See the beauty in the weeds.

For, the weeds are a precursor to clarity, and
A sign of good things to come.
The weeds are filled with hope.

See that hope and carry on.

4 Playful Posies - Week 25

For week 25, I made four blocks of these playful posies!

I really like the color combinations and their whimsical shapes.

On the side of the blocks, I added small strips of paper - the same papers in which the flowers are made.

The blocks of wood that these pieces were created on are scraps from our sunroom addition. The pieces had been left outside, got rained on, became weathered, and the wood is now cupped. I love the small arch of the wood. It adds to the character to the pieces.

Sometimes I have a hard time naming my pieces of art, but not this time. Each of the posies are named based on the magazine text that is on each block. Below, I zoomed in on the center of each flower so you could see the words...and each piece's name.

Flourish - Week 24

Week's 24 piece of artwork is Flourish.

Three weeks ago, I decided to create a piece of artwork of little potted plants and flowers in vases. After help from my friends on social media, I named it Grow. It was so fun to do, that two weeks ago, I made another, and named it Bloom. And this past week, I created Flourish - to finish a set of three pieces.

These three pieces were intricate and a bit tedious, but incredibly enjoyable to create!
